Hello from North Carolina
My name is Lee and I live just outside of Charlotte,N.C. I have just joined the forum, but have been looking over your shoulder and learning as much as I can,for several months.I feel I already know several of you from your posts.I don't have a kilt yet, but plan on pulling the trigger soon.I want to lose about 10 more pounds.I'm trying to decide on a tartan.
I receive my scotish/Irish connection from my mothers side. Her maiden name was Foard and I was told this is a scotish spelling.I hope someone can tell me if the Foard name connects to any clan.
I picked my screen name from my family history.I 5th G-Great grandfather,as the story has been past down, was in his upper teens in Ireland when the English conscriptors came for him.He escaped and hired on as a cabin boy to come to America.
I looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the rabble!
After an admittedly quick, superficial search concerning Foard, I found this:

You'd probably have more luck since you're armed with more names and places to put into a true genealogical search. Keep in mind that a Scottish connection isn't necessary to wear a kilt.
Good luck!
