Hello from North Carolina!
Hello all! I am Jacob, from North Carolina (US). I currently don't own any kilts, but I will soon! I am an Eagle Scout, and I spend a lot of time outdoors camping, hiking, and other related activities. I would be glad to receive recommendations for kilts that would do well for these things. I am also looking for a more formal kilt to wear, and I plan on buying several in the next year or so (assuming I like them, as I am fairly certain I will). My family and I have very strong Scottish ancestry, and I intend to awaken the Spirit of Scotia within me.
I look forward to making many friends here, and to getting my first kilt!

Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"
You'll get lots of advice here - most of it really appropriate too! My only recommendation is to participate here a LOT before you invest your cash. You'll find that what you want will evolve as you read and that way you'll save money. Lots of it!
Again, welcome!

Welcome from a Scotsman living in the English Midlands. Have you done some research on your Scottish ancestry? What parts of Scotland did they live?

Well met Jacob. As you can see from my name, I am from N.C. also. As Father Bill suggests, spend a bit of time here reading and chatting before making a first step into kilting. Glad to have you with us.
There are many scouts (former and active) among us as well as those that embrace outdoors. You're in good company.

I don't have any Inverness connection, though I have visited there! My ancestors were from further south (Perthshire, Ayrshire, Clackmannanshire).

Welcome - from another NC
Good Morning and welcome to the group,
I have been away awhile and the person is correct, there is many here with vast information about the entire "kilt" scene.
I have one kilt and even though it was an "alti-Kilt", I am planning to purchase other kilt with my tartan pattern, based on my genealogy research.
Have a good day!
Derek
