Hello from North Texas
Hi everyone.
The name is Chris, and I had my first kilted experience tonight. My wife is of Irish decent & loves all things Celtic, so I surprised her by donning a basic Sport Kilt package in the All Ireland tartan. Worn with boots, a solid black polo style shirt and a wide belt (I went with the inexpensive stuff to test the waters before investing in a nicer wool kilt).
We're on vacation and I came out dressed in the kilt for a casual dinner with friends. I must admit I was pretty nervous, but I just went for it and found it to be very comfortable. Upon getting out of the car someone immediately came up and asked me where I got the kilt because he wanted one. Only one other person spoke to me about it, but I got lots of looks... And I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of that special freedom I've been reading about here at Xmarks.
I'm a bit more nervous about wearing it out back home, but I'm sure I'll get used to it (and I'm sure my kids and step kids won't).
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. Thanks to all of you for all the interesting info you post.
