    Hello from Northern Colorado

Good afternoon fellow Scots. I just joined this forum after stumbling on it doing some research on who wears a kilt hiking. I just got into wearing kilts as a result of attending the annual Long's Peak Scottish-Irish Festival in Estes Park, Colorado, and finding out I have more Scottish and Irish ancestry than I previously thought, thanks to my Ancestry.com DNA test and research I have done on their site. I thought I was mostly German until that test, then found out I'm 1/3 Scottish/Irish, 1/3 German, and 1/3 English. So I traced my ancestry down to a MacKenzie who moved to America from Scotland. I have been wearing my kilts hiking in the mountains for a few months now and enjoy the freedom and ventilation. Who else hikes in a kilt? Anyone in Colorado? I'm kind of alone out there since I have yet to see another kilt worn around here outside of that festival I mentioned.

    from Austin, Texas.

You won't see many men wearing kilts, but don't let that stop you. You'll get compliments.

Welcome from a Colorado native. I was born in Fort Collins, raised in Colorado Springs, and have either visited or lived in most of the state. There are a few others from Colorado on here. Although I normally go with pants while hiking if I find a cargo style kilt that fits me comfortably I would be more likely to wear it while hiking. For some reason I don't want to ruin a classic looking kilt in the wilderness we have in this state.

Down in Castle Rock. Do some hiking around Douglas County, mostly Indian Creek area and Roxborough.
