Hello from Northern Virginia
Greetings all,
My name is Douglas Story (Scotch and English in descent) Doug for short. Got my first kilt in January of 2010), wore it out that same weekend and got nothing but positive feedback.
Would wear it more often (out during the day, casually), but it's a Maclaine lochbuie formal tartan (which is my heritage and the reason for my username) and my wife wants me to keep it nice for when we go out, but one day, when finances have loosened up a bit, I'll get me an Amerikilt (would get a Utilikilt, but they're just too pricey [a Utilikilt is $215.00 for a standard black Utilikilt, versus $98.00 for a standard black Amerikilt), gee, with my Scotch heritage (and the Scotch being known for frugality) which one should I go for?

Well Doug First welcome to the Rabble I too am in NOVA - Alexandria to be exact 395/Duke St Area. I say lean towards a nice PV Kilt (Poly Viscous) they can usually be had for about 100.00 - and are very durable and nice - they arent available in All tartans but I have 3 and enjoy them greatly - Im about to order Wool 13oz Elliot Modern shortly. Now just want to correct one small thing When speaking of the Scottish People we are to refer as Scots, Scot or Scottish - No harn no foul but Scotch is that wonderful Single Malt Elixir that we all cherish. - Again welcome to the forum - You'll find there are many of us here in NOVA and we do like to gather often for kilt nights
