Hello From Roderick in Cornwall.in Uk.
Was a member as fishingrodie a couple of years ago. Moved to retire to Cornwall a couple of years ago...Whole coms. system failed and phone, mobile and computer server were replaced....Still problems with overhead branches on the power lines and salt in the BT server. I can now see my mobile mast. Might seem pretty uncivilised but I am ten miles from the nearest bank and thirty miles from an Operations Hospital.Hoping to reopen Things Cornish as only seventeen percent of the population of Cornwall are forth generation Cornish....My ancestors left Scotland in1600's and ended up on Ann the Pleaters doorstep before 1725....All sea trading.
Started wearing my best kilt thirty five years ago...Gave up wearing trousers this summer....Will be Scottish Country Dancing Again next month...Big group...I am the only kilted male in the groups three males in the groups four partner sett...Lived with Scottish ex pats in Weymouth for forty years. Looked out of my bedroom window to watch the 2012 Olympic sailing championships in Portland harbour...Have been viewing xmts for past two years but did not have time to access site... Members might be interested in my welcome to our new friend in Hawii.
Roderick Powell.

Welcome from as almost far East as you can go, to almost as far west as you can go.
With similar problems, we have two banks 5 miles away but they both close in December, making it ten miles to the bank ( we've also lost two building society branches in the last 5 years).
We used to have power problems regular failures but they replaced all the overhead cables last year. Much better.
Mobile phones only work if you stand upstairs by the bathroom window.
It's also about 25 miles to the nearest hospital.
And the nearest telephone distribution box is 2 miles away with another ,3 or 4 miles to the exchange, not much chance of high speed broad band here.
I can remember Weymouth from the 1960s, we often went down there on summer holidays from where we lived in Wiltshire at the time.
I watched the 2012 Olympic sailing from a TV in my sailing club, most inconsiderate of them to arrange the Olympics during my sailing clubs annual regatta.
Anyway I hope you enjoy it here.
