Hello from South Carolina, USA
Hello!
Not new at the Forum, have been lurking for a bit before I became a member. Let me introduce myself;
I am the Dutch wife of an American kilt lover, and at this time we are in the process of making our first 'real' kilt! The fascination started when we were invited to a wedding in Edinburgh, and hubby rented a Prince Charlie outfit. I have bought him a (tartan) acrylic utility kilt, which can be dressed up, and a duck cloth one for more casual occasions (hiking when we are camping etc.) and this week, we found a nice 100% wool fabric that we are currently trying to turn into a kilt. This fabric is not your standard tartan, something we are discovering now, isn't exactly making things easier! Here a few pictures of the process:

Well met my Southern neighbor (a few states to the east). That material will make an interesting kilt. Photos will keep us updated and some of us envious. Glad to have you with us.

Progress Report
Pleated to the left of the join (hidden in a box pleat) +/- 3.5 inch pleats
Starting to pleat on the right side with +/- 6 inch pleats, see what we like better!

Also noticed that the pleats are not even, good thing this is just temporary.
Should you have any suggestions on how better to pleat with this pattern,
we would love to hear!

No, I do not. At this point I am not sure if we're going to make
just this one kilt, or make a wardrobe!
