Well met James. As soon as you find your tailor, the questions I have can be answered with a photo series.
What material, tartan or not, size up or down, shorten or lengthen, etc. I don't expect it will take you long to meet your goal. Welcome from Oxford, MS.

Are you looking for someone in SOCAL? It will be helpful for others to advise you if we know where you are looking. If you are open to shipping your kilt anywhere within the U.S. then there are MANY options. We have among the membership here a lot of talented kilt makers (even more so if you expand to Canada).

Hi James and a warm welcome from sunny Queensland!
You might start your search by looking through the ads on this site - you might find one near you or within acceptable shipping distance, though obviously, it's better to visit your tailor personally so the measurements can be made accurately.
Regards, Sav.
