Hello from Southern Maryland!
Greetings to all and sundry. I just got my first kilt at the local Celtic Festival, and got hooked on wearing it. I'm building the rest of the outfit a little at a time. I have the kilt, sporran, hose, and flashes. I'm saving money to get the ghillie brogues. I have been going to the Celtic Festival in Calvert County, MD for years. Every time I went I would eye the kilts, and finally bought one for myself. My wife asked when I would wear it. Celtic Festival, Maryland Renaissance Festival, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day ( McCulloughs began in Scotland, but it appears that a ton migrated to Ireland after the 1745 Jacobite Uprising), and National Tartan Day. I recently noticed a rise in guys in town wearing them, so I'm wanting to expand. I began looking around online, and I found this forum! I want to thank all of you for this treasure trove of information that you have put together. The advice is wonderful, and it's neat seeing all the creativity. My wife is knitting me a balmoral bonnet as I am typing this, and the we found the pattern thanks to all of you. Guess I have rambled on long enough. So once again, thanks, and Hi!

Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"
Before you spend money on those shoes, jackets, etc. etc., you've got most of your kit already, hang about and use the search engine a bit; you'll find that you can save some cash on some of the stuff that is more Hollywood stereotype than reality.
