Hello from Southern Ontario
Just signed up to the forum and thought I'd get that first post out of the way. I had a kilt made in ancient Gunn 15 years ago for my wedding and have worn it for special occasions over the years. I've been looking at buying a utility kilt for everyday wear and maybe attempting to make one over the winter.

Hello Dave in Souther Ontario, and welcome to X Marks from Delaware, USA. I'm very fond of Southern Ontario myself having been, by boat, to Leamington, Port Stanley (Fiona, the Scottish woman, runs the marina there), Port Dover, Dunnville, Port Colborn, St. Catharines, Niagra-On-The-Lake, etc.
A utility type kilt for everyday wear is one idea (I wear one myself) but, you could also considered a casual (low yardage wool or PV) type kilt done in one of the Gunn tartans for the same purpose.
Regardless, you will find a lot (and I mean a LOT) of information on XMTS about any type of kilt and how they are worn.
Glad you chose to join the kilted rabble and I look forward to your participation in the forum.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. Ironically, a friend of mine just posted this picture (on Facebook) of the Perch platter at the Erie Beach Hotel in Dover, Ontario. One of our favorite places on Lake Erie and certainly one of my favorite meals. Their Lake Perch (Yellow Perch) is the best I've ever had (they have a unique batter).

Where in Southern Ontario do you live Dave?
