Hello from Springfield, IL (the area anyways)
Hi All!
My name is Abigail and I live in Ashland, IL which is about 30 minutes west of Springfield. I'm of Scottish, Irish and English descent. My great-grandma was a Lindsay and was the first in her family to be born in the US. Family rumor says she was conceived in Scotland and born in the US, but I think that's just a rumor and not fact! She went on the marry a man from Nova Scotia who was also of Scottish descent. I proudly wear both the Lindsay and the Nova Scotia tartans. Lucky for me, LL Bean carries the Lindsay tartan in the catalog every couple of years. My dad has done the family history back into the far reaches of time and has found out all sorts of interesting things. (Including a wicked horrid murder-suicide in Maine in the winter of 1903 or something.)
I've gotten myself elected to the board of the St Andrew's Society of Central IL. We host a big Highland Games every May. We also have athletes, dancers, and a pipe band that all travel and compete nation-wide and sometimes internationally. I keep telling myself that someday I'll learn to play bagpipes and compete in the athletics...but as long as I work retail, that is a distant plan!

And greetings from that rather large thing that occupies the upper North East corner of the Great State Of Illinois!
...and, no, we do not think that we are the only good thing about Illinois! That's a vicious rumor started by those folks in Danville!
Best
