Hello from St. Paul, Minnesota
Hello all! My name is Tom Delaney, and I am joining from Saint Paul, Minnesota. I play guitars (all kinds) and accordion in Celtic folk rock group the Tim Malloys (www.timmalloys.com). Yes, that surname is Irish, but recently I have decided that I want to compete in Highland Games events, and so ... well, here I am! Long story short, I became something of a fitness fanatic a couple years ago, and see competing in the Highland Games as a great way to incorporate my love for Celtic tradition, and to personally celebrate achievement of physical fitness goals that I set for myself awhile back (yes, there's a story in there). I'm not a big contender for sure at 5'11 and 175 lbs and 43 years of age, but I'm really into starting this year for the spirit of it.
OK, that all said. I have a family, a nuts-o Black Labrador Retriever yearling, and have a day job besides working as a musician. I also am a beekeeper and this year will be managing three hives. My long term dream is to work up to a small family business in beekeeping with honey, beeswax products and the occasional accidental apitherapeutic bee-sting on my ... arm.
I am interested in meeting you all, and especially interested in meeting anyone who is training for Highland Games in the St. Paul / Minneapolis metro area. Looking forward to the craic!
Slán,
Tom

BrewerPaul and all, perhaps I should mention I am a homebrewer myself. My favorite stock ... Northern Brewer's Scottish Wee Heavy!

"Some Scottish historians theorize that Charles Stuart didn't flee Scotland after the failed 1745 uprising; instead, he had a few too many Wee Heavies in the Outer Hebrides and then just sort of woke up in France. History may keep her secrets, but you can share the experience of a Wee Heavy. There's a little Jacobite Revolution in every bottle."

P.S. Fedgunner, thanks for listening to the music. It's for the people and it's good to hear that the people are listening!
