Thank you for adding me to the rolls of this forum. My name is Al and I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA. So that makes me a Yooper. I've been a kilt wearer for a number of years now and am one of only a few people here where I live who do wear them. At first it got a lot of attention. Happily most of that attention was very positive. Not that I was seeking attention mind you. It just came with the territory.
My first kilts we're purchased online and I do still patronize that company from time to time. Now, though, I enjoy building my own kilts when the need arises for a new one.
My day job is as a cook and that keeps the roof up and the belly full. Outside of that I am an independent recording musician. Most days I can be found spending hours upon hours in my private studio working on new material and covers of older songs. My favorite genre to play is instrumental surf rock. I also play bodhrán in a local Celtic folk band here in the city where I live. I'm active with our community theater as an actor and also doing pretty much any other work that is needed to make a show happen. And there is a LOT of that!
For what it's worth I am a IS Navy veteran, submarine service. The kilt I am currently wearing I have designated as my concert/item display kilt. On the front apron my submarine dolphins and patrol pin, as well as rank I signia pins, serve as kilt pins. And I have seen a number of patches from concerts I have attended there as well. Being a big fan of musical concerts I try to collect a patch from the bands I see. I felt this kilt would be a perfect way to display them.
Well, that is a little bit about me. Thanks again for accepting my request to join this forum. I look forward to hearing from and about all of you.
