Hello from Vermont
Been wearin' the kilt for about a month. Have totally switched over, but it's up in the air if the University where I work which claims a need of a more diverse environment will allow me to wear the kilt when classes are in session. Human Resourses are a bit up in the air about it. I've stated my reasons and my case. So I may need to keep a pair of trousers at work. I've started doing this in honor of my father who passed away (whom I never knew and recently found out who he was) I never new my heritage until some older folks on my mother's side told me the "real" story behind my birth. I really hope I don't need to wear trousers again. I won't anywhere else.
My wife was a bit surprised, but she is supporting it and said it's growing on her. I have kilts from 2 different makers and am expecting mine from USA Kilts very shortly (they are so fast to respond). It's all about relationships I have found out. You need to learn about and as best you can, know your kilt maker. Integrity is key. I don't say the others I have purchased from are bad. I'm just saying at this time and I expect for a long time, Roger and folks at USAKilts.com have been impeccible and I fell fortunate to have stumbled across their web site.
That's all from Vermont!

Hi, Thom, and welcome to XMTS from the bottom end of Africa.
You certainly have gone in for kilts in a big way. Well done!
I plan to get into the game more gently, but I long for the freedom I had when I wore an army kilt.
You mention working at a university, but your picture shows a fireman’s badge – are you a volunter fireman, too?
In that case there are firemen’s tartans you could look into as well.
Enjoy the feel of wearing the kilt!
Regards,
Mike

good luck with your employer. At least they are thinking it over... I always had a good time kilted in Vermont when I visited. I was asked if I had bought my utilikilt locally in Burlington 2 years ago.
