My name is John Scott, I have always believed that my family was from Scottish decent but was told all my life that we were in fact English. I always have had a fond love of all things related to Scotland and enjoyed the Highland games and such from the time I was a young boy. More recently I discovered through family records and lots of letters overseas that my family is actually from Ayrshire, Scotland and have lived there for over 200 years proven with the belief we go much, much, further back than that. We are of Clan Scott and I am very proud to say so. Although this information is new I feel like I have always know we were of Scottish decent and just a few weeks ago I bought my first kilt to be worn at my wedding and another now for casual wear. The kilt i am having made for my wedding is Scott dress modern tartan ( yes i know dress tartans are primarily worn by ladies and dancers, but it goes great with the wedding dress of my fiance and i love it all the same). The kilt is being made by John Morrison and i got it form the www.heritageofscotland.com/ website. It is a 8 yard kilt and for the wedding i thought the pleating to the stripe would look nice so when it arrives i will happily post a picture and be glad to receive all of your praise or ridicule, whichever it may be. I also ordered the prince charlie vest/jacket in the highest quality wool they have available and will wear it with the rouche tie, wing tip shirt, fly plaid/brooch, clan crested cuff links, clan crested kilt pin, ghille brogues, cream kilt socks, stag embroidered kilt belt, stag belt buckle, Full dress seal fur sporran, and clan crested sigian duhb. I feel i went all out for the wedding attire (a lofty 1100 BGP) but i feel its worth it for a family heirloom. Enough on that kilt as its not arrived and im beginning to feel long winded enough already.

Please forgive me if i am rambling, im just very excited to join the forum and share all of this with fellow kilt lovers.

So the other day i received at last my second kilt from ( in terms of when they were ordered) from USAKilts. Its a casual kilt in Black Watch Tartan and i wanted to share a picture of it with you gents. Keep in mind i have not received my kilt belt, casual sporran, kilt pin (im using a cap badge in the picture) or proper kilt hose so i was realy just making due with what was readily available. I would love to hear your thoughts and in fact i got most every idea and tip for kilt attire from you gents already anyway. hope you enjoy

Thank you all for the advice you have shared with others and the many pictures of all your beautiful kilts. It has helped me more than you all know. I hope this will be the start of a great many friendships.

sincerely,
John Scott
