Hello from West Michigan!
Hi! My name's Kyle. I've always thought kilts were cool, but only recently bought one. Been wearing it quite a bit already. Discovered the X Marks the Scot forum and have been reading all kinds of good info on here for several weeks now. Figured it was about time I joined.

Thanks! I'm most interested in kilts as casual daily wear, but I have been trying to learn about as much as I can about the finer points of it so as to not make too much of a fool of myself. I'm not well outfitted for formal attire yet, but I think that would be a fun thing to explore at a later time.
I'm an American mutt - ancestry from at least Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, the Netherlands, France, and probably Italy (up for debate depending on which family member you talk to, but there's an awful lot of evidence). West Michigan's largely Dutch, and the only other person I've heard of in the area who regularly wears a kilt is a roofer who wears a Utilikilt, so I do seem to get a bunch of the "lost time traveller" looks. Got asked one time if I was part of some theater production. It's just not very common around here. I hope to change that.

Welcome from a Scotsman now living in the English midlands. You'll learn a lot here - I'm still learning.
