Hello from Western North Carolina
Just wanted to say hello to all and introduce myself. As my screen name says..Im Joe Brown. Im in the mountains on the western end of North Carolina just west of Asheville. I stumbled across this site while trying to find a place to purchase a kilt in the Brown modern tartan(which isn't easy to find). Seems when my wife and I go to Scotland next summer I will have to purchase it there, until then I will continue to wear a Black Watch kilt.If anybody is going to the Grandfathers Mountain games July 14th, I will see you there.

Hi Joe,
Get yourself over to Franklin, NC. Stop in at the Scottish Tartans Museum on Main St. (or click on the Museum's logo near the top of this page) Talk to Ronen and ask him to put you in touch with Matt Newsome.
Both Ronen and Matt are members here. Ronen is with the Museum and Matt is known around here as M.A.C. Newsome former Curator. Matt can set you up with a wonderful kilt in almost any Tartan, Brown (M) included.

Hi there, you are not too far from us! Steve is correct, if you head a bit further west to Franklin to the Scottish Tartans Museum, you can be set up with a Brown modern kilt, no problem. The tartan is available in a heavy weight cloth from House of Edgar mill in Scotland, and that's what I would recommend. You can get different styles of kilt from the museum gift shop, plus any accessories you'd need. And you can get measured in person, which is always nice. Come check us out!

Hello, Joe. What do you know?
There's a "Browns of the Southeast" tartan that was designed by a former member here. You might want to consider it.
Welcome aboard from I-40 exit 85.
