Hello from Western Suburbs of Chicagoland
Hello Rabble,
I've trolled this forum for some time now. Finally worked up the nerve to join. (Had to have a Scotch or two).
Anyway, proud to now own my first kilt - a MacDonald Dress (Modern Colors), direct from dear Scotland. Special in that this tartan covers both sides of my ancestry - Cochran on my mother's side, MacDonald on my father's side.
Looking forward to learning and posting.

If you knew us better, you would have to have had 4 or 5 drams.
Welcome from the Jemez mountains of northern New Mexico! I hope you enjoy the XMTS forum.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Ahhh, Mookien,
New Mexico . . . I grew up in Ruidoso. Then, was trapped in Texas for about 30 years. Just moved to Chicago and really miss the mountains of NM. Was in Ruidoso the middle of February. Cannot wait to get back.
All that, and I almost took my kilt skiing. I would have had to take it down to casual, but when we were skiing in mid 50 temps, it would have been most excellent.
Cheers,

Mikilt,
I'm in Bolingbrook, so, not a long distance at all.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. Seeing there is no sun in Chi-Beria, the welcomes at least make one smile.
Cheers,

My brother was stationed in Alamogordo in the '80s. We skied a couple of times at Ski Apache. I enjoyed it and the town of Ruidoso, though living up north and much closer to Taos, Pajarito, and Santa Fe, it was simply easier to ski those areas.
In the spring I skied in my shorts sometimes (though never in a kilt). The only "hazard" were the skin burns I got from sliding on the snow, if (ie when) I fell. I hope you enjoy Chicago. My son and his wife visited there last year and loved it. The only ski area "near" there that I know about is Boyne Mountain.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
