Hey, all you "guests"!
'Just noticed at the bottom of the home page, like 31 members and 216 guests browsing this splendid forum.
At least a few of you must be ready to make the metaphorical leap into joining up.
C'mon in, the tartan-patterned water's fine!
Introduce yourself, get a super-cheapie practice kilt and sign on with (as another renowned member calls) "an eccentric minority."
It's a fun and gregarious e-place, come on now, don't be shy....

I would venture to guess, that the vast majority of those "guests" are search spiders, Google, Baidu, etc... -- or other bots of some kind. Non-human guests, if you will.
XMarks is EXTREMELY well indexed. If you write a post or put up a new thread, Google picks it up within minutes and makes it globally searchable. Kinda scary when you stop to think about it.

CDNSushi is correct. At any time, day or night there are approx 200. computers looking at X Marks. Everything from Google and all the other search engines to libraries to the spam computers.
It is not uncommon, when it is daytime in China, for there to be almost 1000 computers looking through every thread and every post ever made here.
If you would like to see what this looks like just click on 'Forum' at the top of any page, then scroll down to the bottom. You will find the box listed "currently active users" with the number of users on line. These numbers are underlined and by clicking on the underlined text a new window will open showing everyone who is on X Marks and what they are doing.
It's kinda fun to see what all these computers are looking at.

I am not sure that this is indicative of anything, but I browse X-Marks several times a day and only sign on a couple of times a week.

This is interesting as I had not put it into the "internet-demon-voyeur" perspective before. On a note it is 5"30 am at my house and there are 3 members and no guests attending at this moment. I feel like the ugly wallflower that never gets asked to dance. I can dance.

Amended: There are 202 guests and thirteen members viewing on the forum "proper". I should get my dance card out.

I wish my business websites were as good.
