Hey from Oregon
Good morning. My name is Rick from rainy/sunny Portland, OR.
I have been a member from 2005 but I mainly read posts. I am a native Oregonian and Portlander. I moved to Scotland in 2011 and lived in Edinburgh and loved it!
Due to family issues, we moved back to Oregon in 2015. I have worn kilts on and off since 1996 and I love them.
I knew I had a Scottish connection growing up and thought it was from Cole ancestors, so I wore the McDougal tartan and then I found out the Cole family came from Holland. Then I wore MacLaren because of Patterson name but that is my step father's name but I wear it none the less.
While I was in Scotland I did some digging and my great 3x grandmother was a MacLachlan and her family was from Stirling. I have done more research and I have many clans, like McDonald and Ferguson and Ross.
I am rebuilding my kilt collection so I can wear my tartans more often. No problem here in Portland, since the unoffical motto is Keep Portland Weird. Easy to wear "non-conformist" clothing.
I am also a man of the cloth, being ordained a catholic deacon 3 years ago, in Scotland, no less.
Thanks!
Rev Dn (John) Richard Patterson

I really liked Glasgow. I tried to get the family to move there but, alas, we moved back to the USA. :-(

Welcome from just a bit North of you in Battle Ground. I hope we get a chance to cross paths and tell stories. Maybe we can talk you into coming to one of our fledgling Kilt Nights the first Thursday of the month at Northwood Pub in Battle Ground. I'd love to hear more about your time in Scotland.

Ditto to Bikercelt1's reply above. Welcome and hope to get to meet you in person!
Studies have shown that women who gain a few pounds live longer than men who mention it.
