Hey y'all from NW Louisiana
Greetings from Shreveport in NW Louisiana!
Got my first kilt at age 16 (I'm 53 now!) from Geoffrey (Tailor) in Cunningham tartan. I was young and thought I had to play the "Clan Tartan" game! No such restrictions on me now though!
My second was also made by Geoffrey. About 15 years ago I was at the Stone Mountain games near Atlanta, GA and Geoffrey had purchased a lot of gubmint surplus tartan (Black Watch) which just happened to be what I was looking for anyway. It's coarser than commercial fabric but very heavy and durable and it still looks great! Got it for $350!
My third was a lucky find on eBay: a great kilt (also by Geoffrey) in Modern Hunting MacFarlane. Not a tartan that I would've chosen but I've grown quite fond of the bright colors (see avatar). It was rarely if ever used and I stole it for $200 along with hose, flashies, day sporran and a bunch of other stuff that I don't really need.
I came across this forum while doing research for my next kilt. I'm looking for something more casual that rides a bit lower, about where trousers hang but that'll be the subject of another post.
Hey, y'all from catfish country!

Welcome to the fray. Hopefully you'll be back to Stone Mountain soon so we can all meet up.
BTW, I used to live in Shreveport, out West 70th Street, but that was "in another country, and besides the wench is dead." It was almost 40 years ago.
