Hi from Allen, TX
I just got my first kilt, and started to do some research on Unbifurcated garments. I found this forum in the search, and decided to join, so I thought I would say hello
My name is Mathew, though I prefer to be called Cathal. I am of the MacRae Clan, though my Allegience is slightly in favor to the Irish Gods, hence why I choose to make my first Kilt the Irish National Tartan. However the second Kilt I get will more than likely be the MacRae Clan Tartan (or one of them anyways) depending on where I can find it for the cheapest. I have found that that particular Tartan is hard to find for under 300 dollars on a kilt... not to mention that most kilts are hard to find for under 300 dollars. So finding one is going to be a bit of a struggle and may take most of the year.

Welcome from Texas! I think you'll find a whole new obsession and some more reasonably priced kilts in your time here. Check out XMTS Sponsors USA Kilts or Stillwater for some good options.

Actually my first kilt came from Stillwater... though the limited amount of tartans has me perturbed. At this point I think I have decided to try making my own kilt... or having my own kilt made for me... if I can find out how much material I am going to need and how much it is going to cost me that will determine whether I decide to do that or not.

I don't quite know how much everything would cost, but from the looks of it making your own kilt will probably be a lot less. Just really depends on the quality of the materials used.
