    Hi from Edmonton

I have been wearing my kilt for about 10 years now. It is a county Antrim tartan, where my Grandfather emmigrated from. When I wear it to formal events I also wear a very plain brown Argyll jacket and a plain brown leather sporran. I think this forum is great.

My grandfather emigrated from Carrickfergus around 1913 when he was 13. His oldest brother was the first to leave. He joined the Canadian Army in 1917 and was wounded in battle in France and then died in hospital in Birmingham shortly after. I visited his grave in 2012 in Carrickfergus on Rememberance day. I attended the ceremony at the church where they read off all the names of the parishioners that died in the Great War including my Great Uncle. My last name is McDowell, it is not that common here but there a ton of them in the Belfast area.
