Hi from Illinois
I've been exploring the site, appreciating the vast amounts of information provided, and am considering getting a kilt to wear for everyday use and during my running/walking exercise. My father's family traces from Washington State to Maine back to the Yorkshire area of England. I noticed some Bacon in the mix, but haven't confirmed any Scotts yet. Since the Bacon is minimal and I'm not that familiar or attached to it, I plan to use the Washington State tartan as that is where I was born, I like that area (though I don't live there now), and I think it's nice looking.
I know I can import an Essential Scotweb Casual kilt in Washington tartan, but I haven't found a USA supplier yet of something similar yet. Is there one I should consider at a comparable price?
Thanks.
Tim

I don't know what all tartans Rocky has in stock, but you might look at USA Kilts. They're listed within the top banner of this site. Rocky seems to be able to get his hands on anything and they make a great kilt.
Good choice of tartan too. Washington is a beautifully place and has a lovely tartan.

The Washington state tartan will probably be a custom weave, but 'most any kiltmaker can arrange for it. I'd try checking around the Washington heritage organizations, to see if a retailer might have some in stock.
Sometimes you can find a specialized tartan in cotton or poly-cotton, and that might also be something to consider for your outdoor pursuits.
For a start, look at http://www.scottishheritageofwa.org/links.php. some Washington residents will probably check in soon...
Edited to add: keep an eye out for stores that supply dancers and pipe bands. The Tartan Thistle comes to mind, I believe they are in Washington or PNW.

A warm Scottish welcome from middle England.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Thanks all for the warm welcome.
@Spartan Tartan, USA Kilts was one of the first I checked. They show California Modern as a standard item, New York City as an extra charge item, but do not list Washington state.
@fluter, Thanks for the link. Tartan Thistle linked to Lochcarron for their tartan lists, but did have a link for the image of the Washington state tartan next to some kilts. I've sent an inquiry as to whether that would be a stock or custom item for them. You also have me pondering further on cloth choice. I'll peruse the Kilt Advice forum further and may ask a follow up question there about cotton and poly-cotton vs wool for my use and into the cooler months. I still have a leaning towards wool, though I could be convinced otherwise.
@McFarkus, Howdy neighbor. I'm just outside the city, near the north border of O'Hare airport.
