Hi! New member from California
Hey all
First time to the forums!
A friend of mine recently ordered a kilt and recommended I get one. I thought it was a great idea especially because we are both of the Gunn clan.
For a first kilt I was thinking of purchasing. http://www.thescotlandkiltcompany.co...se-gunn-modern
If anyone has purchased from this company or has a better alternative that is near the same price let me know please.
I am just wanting to get a kilt to see if I like the feel of one before I go to buy a more expensive one.

Hello and welcome from another California lad. As far as kilt vendor, you can't go wrong with of the vendors on this site. My personal recommendation would be USA Kilt. My son and I have 3 of their kilts, a casual, a semi-trad and an 8 yard wool. They all come in a different price points, but all are well made. But as I said, any vendor here will treat you VERY well. Welcome.

Well met Jared. The Gunn you've shown has been worn with pride and in comfort (via my memory of recent posts) of members here. I hope you find the same if that is the way you decide to go. If not, please feel free to give honest reports on any items that please and displease your tastes. That is what is great about this group. We learn and teach as we go here. Welcome from Oxford, MS.

from the highland lochs of Texas. I think you are wise to start out with a less expensive kilt and decide how kilt wearing fits into your life style. You will find good suggestions here. There should be considerable savings on postage buying from within the US.

Welcome Jared, you're close to one of our best Games venues each October at the Ventura Co fairgrounds (search Seaside Games here and on Google for details and past photos). Welcome to the rabble and hope to meet you there next fall if not before!

Welcome from Seattle. Poly viscose is a great synthetic kilt fabric, unfortunately there is no such animal as 16 oz PV. It is made by only one mill, Martin Mills in the UK, and is a 11 to 12 OZ. weight. So that kind of raises a red flag for me. As Tomak said, USA Kilts is a great place to start. Quality products and no B.S. Stillwater Kilts also has a very good reputation, and may have something a bit less spendy. Good luck!
