Hiya Fellas!
Mick from South Philly here. Just posting to say hi and introduce myself to the board! Got my first kilt, an acrylic Irish National Tartan, back in 2004 for RennFairing, and St. Patricks Day. For some random unknown reason, I decided I wanted to kilt up more often, so I just got a Utility kilt! My GF isn't exactly happy, but I dig it lol

Well met Mick. Maybe there is a way to get your GF involved in your kilted moments. I've worked on my wife for three years now and can see her warming up to the issue. Welcome and here's to better days in your future.

Well, Hi Mick. Welcome to X Marks from just south of you in Lower, Slower Delaware. Thank you for that great introduction. I hear ya regarding the utility kilt. I too, wear my utility kilt just for the fun of wearing a kilt (hiking, working, hanging out and the occasional pub outing) but I only wear a tartan kilt for events, dinners, etc.
Glad you chose to join the kilted rabble and I look forward to your participation.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. Welcome from a Scotsman living in the English midlands. I understand the problem with the GF - my other half feels the kilt is rather too conspicuous! She likes the look, but feels I stand out in a crowd too much.
