Hiya from Glasgow
Hi there everyone I do hope youre all well!
Ive came here from a recommendation from my friend to get some information regarding traditional scottish kilt wear and their place in womens fashion.
Basically I am newly engaged, and I will be the only Scot in the relationship as I will be marrying an American, I want to try to bring some tradition into what I am wearing on the day, I reached out to my friend asking if he knew if it was unheard of of a woman carrying a Sgian Dhu as my partner wont be wearing a kilt. Or if there were any female forms of it I could implement into my wedding outfit.
So yeah, any info on that would be great for me to have behind me!
Thank you!

Welcome from a fellow-Glaswegian now living in the English midlands. I can't give a learned answer to your question, but I'm sure there will be many who will provide guidance.
Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding - and we look forward to seeing pictures!

You don't say where the wedding will be held but I'm presuming here in Scotland. Might I suggest something tartan but not OTT. Classic and tasteful is far better than going for the Outlander look.

Aye, aye, fae Aiberdeen!
I think the Sgian is a no-no. How about a luckenbooth brooch

Well met new lady. I agree with Alan on the broach. A splash of tartan (scarf, belt or sash or hose) would be a good touch without overloading the complexity of your gown. Glad to have you with us.
