Hoka'Hey! US Army kilt uniform question
Hoka'Hey! Good evening to you all. As a newbie to this forum, please forgive my faux paux.
Having grown up in Scotland and Canada, I've worn kilt my entire life. Being ex British Police and currently active with the R.C.M.P., kilt is pretty much a standard part of our uniform rotation. My wife and I will be renewing our wedding vows this autumn on a British Naval Vessel, the Captain is a long time friend from University and it's a great honour to have him officiate at this joyous time in our lives.
My question is one that I'm not sure of the answer. The young man who's going to be my best man and witness is currently in the US. Army. I've bought him the US. Army tartan and all the needed extras. He'd very much like to wear his Army "Dress Mess" jacket and his medals and rank stripes.
Being our ceremony will be taking place on technically British Territory, is wearing a US. Army Kilt a violation of Army dress code, we can't find the particular section about this, also being on British Territory, again we can't find clarification. The M.O.D. Has no issue as long as his uniform correctly represents his rank. But the US. Army isn't clear on this. I know he can wear a kilt on his off duty time as long as there's no US Army identification. I know my friend would be honoured to be able to wear his uniform. But the Army can be overly stinkers on certain issues. Anyone got any ideas?
