Howdy From East Tennessee Y'all!
I have already posted a few times and have a listing in the "For Sale" page, so I suppose I should introduce myself. I live in the mountains of East Tennessee, and my family has been here since before Tennessee was a state! My 5th G_Grandfather Henry Honus Sharp was a member of the Continental Light Dragoons in the Revolutionary War and he came from Scotland via Germany, where he briefly lived before coming to the colonies. After the war he moved to Orange County, North Carolina, and then on to East Tennessee in 1788 (actually it wasn't Tennessee yet because statehood wasn't granted until 1796, and there for a wee bit that area and part of western North Carolina were the State of Franklin, but that story's for another day).
So, I'm six generations back a Scot, and five generations back a born and bred East Tennessee Hillbilly.
I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music from East Tennessee State University, and teach bagpipes on the side. Strangely enough, professionally I'm a martial arts instructor.
As far as kilts go, I've been officially kilted since 1997, and now wear kilts every day at work.
So there ya go! Howdy to all y'all! (That's plural for those of you that don't speak Tennessean.)

Actually we have been tutored extensively in the uses of y'all / all y'all by a couple of other X-Markers (whose names, naturally, elude me right now) on another thread. Polyglots? We has 'em.
So, to contribute further to the multidialect fiesta that IS X Marks the Scot:

Hello and welcome from a Houstonian, but a homeboy of Memphis. On my mother's side is a long history of Virginians and Carolinians who went by covered wagon in the 1840s to settle in Tennessee.

It really truly is a great life that I have. I can't believe I get to do the two things I love most and get paid for it!
My Sharps originate WAY back when from Peebles, Scotland. Anyone on this group from there? I'd LOVE to ask you some questions about that part of the world.
