Howdy! I have a question about the X-Kilt manual.
Hey all, been wearing a kilt for about the last 2 or three years (not everyday, sadly, but as often as I can) and I have decided to make one for myself and I found this forum and the "The X-Kilt A Contemporary Kilt You Can Sew Yourself" pdf, which is what I'm going to work from (link bellow), but there is one of the instructions that confuses me.
In the diagram showing how the pleats are laid out it shows a 3 inch box pleat on the outside and four 1 1/4 inch folds on the inside, so that adds up to 8 inches, 3 for the face of the box pleat and 4 x 1 1/4 equals 5 inches for a total of eight inches.
But when giving the measurements for marking the pleat lines with chalk it says 3 x 5 1/4.
Where did the extra quarter inch come from?
Is there an explanation in the instructions I can't find?
Is it a typo?
Will I screw up my kilt if I don't include this mystery 1/4 inch?
Will I screw up my kilt if I do include this mystery 1/4 inch?
Like I said, doing the math from the pleat diagram I get 3 x 5, but it says 3 x 5 1/4, so what gives?
Thanks
