Hello All,
I wandered over from the Scottish Kilt Hose group on www.ravelry.com where I asked the question, does anyone here have experience weaving tartan? Ho ho, so here I am!
I live in Independence MO, a suburb of the very up to date Kansas City. I'm an artist, I teach Silversmithing at a local college and do all sorts of fibery activities. Among those projects and equipments are some looms and I do weave on them in between other stuff. Anyway, my journey here begins with the plan to weave a Robertson tartan lap robe for my Dad's Christmas present. He's in a mechanized chair and though someday he might get a handwoven kilt, the lap robe seems more feasible at the moment. It was questions about adjusting the sett to not only fit my loom, but still look good and then thinking about yarns and getting lost in my many books and magazines on tartans and weaving and etc.
So here I be and this looks like a huge and informative site!
