    Howdy from NC

Been lurking for a while. Found this site while doing some online family research, seems I'm very solidly connected to Clan Rose on mom's side. Since I'm now engaging in knocking off one of my bucket list items (learning the pipes) a kilt may well be in the future.

Well met and welcome from another NC (native) guy. Good luck with your piping quest. Good information is shared among the members here on kilting and the pipes. Glad to have you with us.

Welcome from Colorado. I got my first kilt between starting to learn on the practice chanter and getting a set of pipes. Be patient with yourself while learning the pipes, it can take time to build up the muscle control for the three drones and the chanter on the pipes. It's a fun instrument yet it takes time.

Have to admit I'm not native NC, as I'm originally from VA. Mom's maiden name was Rose and I found some research done by her family and there's a straight line of Roses right back to the Highlands. Nobody famous, just a bunch of folks living their lives and my branch came to the Colonies around 1700 and true to the Highland propensity for fighting, have been involved in about every war the US has been in, starting with our disagreement with the crown
