Howdy from New Mexico
Hi, I just joined yesterday and am so glad to have found this site.
Though I only currently own one kilt (Heritage of Scotland tartan, two buckle PV) that I purchased at last week's Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival, I have worn one previously. A couple of decades (or so) ago I attended a few SCA events and wore a belted great kilt. Very nice when you're camping out!!
Only recently has a combination of DNA genealogy, existing family records, and ancestry.com confirmed my Scottish ancestry, and the search continues to document/confirm more, in addition to British ancestry & likely Irish as well. While I know that anyone should feel free to wear a kilt if they wish, being able to point to my own Scottish ancestors just makes me all the more eager to wear one (and own more than one, LOL)
I'm looking forward to learning more about all things kilt-related.
