Hi - I came across a post on Facebook about wearing a tie with a kilt and felt compelled to contribute.

I was born in Scotland and came to Australia as a child with my family.

I live in the mountains just inland from Australia's New South Wales mid-north coast. New South Wales is nothing like Wales ...we are quite hot and humid. I bought my kilt for my first son's wedding and have worn it to all three of boy's weddings - alas they live in Brisbane ....hot and very humid. As a result I went for a wool blend and it is just bearable and wearable in the Brisbane spring and autumn and in air conditioned summer ... but it's a nice kilt that hangs nicely.

As for wearing tartan tie - I am a Hunter so wear the Hunter kilt but my mother was a Fraser so I wear a Fraser bow-tie - I like the look. The photo is me with two older brothers
