I still wear pants...
Hello, I'm just making my presence known and trying to get somewhat acquainted with people. I'm being drawn into the kilt world after borrowing a kilt from a professor, forcing me into the realization of just how uncomfortable pants are.
But, alas, I own no kilt, as I'm a flat-out-broke college student; however, I plan to invest in a kilt or utility kilt as soon as it's financially feasible. I'm looking forward to eventually buying my freedom, and will read old forum posts to try to get an idea of where to get a good first kilt.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Welcome! I'm in the same boat as you (without the benefit of the college education! lol).... Just a broke guy dying to strap one of these things on and leave pants behind! So come and covet with the rest of us! You're among friends!

Welcome from the San Francisco Bay Area!
Figure out your measurements, save your coins and keep an eye out for deals on eBay, etc. There's even the occasional VERY good deal here on the XMTS...
Kilt on!!

Yes! Watch for someone who has gained or lost weight and has to get rid of a good quality kilt. This is the place. Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts.

First off
That's ok I wear pants too. Kilts everyday are not practical for me. But that's ok. It doesn't make us any less important. Do you have any friends who are fasion design majors or involved in drama or theatre? If so, give them a copy of the x-kilt instructions and for the price of some material, you might get a kilt. You might have to model it for the fasion designer or voluteer some time on the next drama production. But hey, it'll be worth it.

Welcome.
And I still wear pants, too.
As much as I love the kilt, I will still always love my Levi's 501 button-fly jeans.
