    kilt pin

I'm brand new at this site, and brand new at wearing a kilt. Can some one please tell me the placement of a pin on my kilt? How far from the bottom, how far in?

    Thank you.

A little bit in, a little more up.

I usually put it somewhere around 1½"-2" in, and about 5" up

You're going to get a whole lot of answers here. Unless you're wearing a uniform, there are no "regulations". Basically, wear it in the lower corner of the outer apron. Look through the pictures and see where you like it best.

First of all WELCOME. I wear mine about 5-6" up from the bottom and around 3" in from the edge.

    WELCOME!

Depends on the type of pin, but usually about 4" up and about 3" in, is what looks good in the mirror.

I agree with the others here . I also like to place the pin at a corner of one of the squares that the tartan pattern makes. Unless it's a plain kilt.

A word of advice too......Put the pin only trough the front apron. You'll tear a hole in your kilt if you pin though both the aprons

Pipe Majors insist on the 3" in 4" up rule, but if you get it right theyll just find something else wrong!

Personally, I like to line my pins up with a vertical strip in the kilt that way I can be certain that it is straight.
