Kilt wearer from Dallas area
Good day all,
I have been delving into my Scottish roots as it were. My paternal grandmother was a Whyte and I have been working with Clan Lamont on learning about this history.
Since my wife has a masters in history we are regulars at several Ren fairs. Also since she has a masters she is a bit of a stickler for details. So when in garb I have three main choices – tights, trews, or a kilt. Not a tough choice there. She does relax enough that the kilt as know now isn’t the same as back than, that it would be very unlikely for a Scottish ambassador to have worn his kilt and that the sgain dubn and dirk were later than Henry’s time.
I have three kilts right now, two of unknown plaid and one of the Navy tartan that I wear to formal occasions such as the Navy Ball.
I am also very much into cooking and knife making and have stared trying to use my knowledge in fixed blade, full tangs into stick and mortise so I can work on period and dress pieces.

First off, if you're interested we have a section of the forum for Historical Highland attire. You might be able to get a good conversation going there about your Faire garb.
Second, I hope you enjoy your time here!

Thanks for all the welcomes.
I will finish filling everything out soon and get a new avatar up after my wife & I get a pic from the Navy ball tomorrow.
Please remember I'm at a hobby level with my knives so don't expect works of art. I've had some good teachers over the years but you can't make up for someone who does it for a living. I also source out my sheaths as my leather work is sub-par. My sheath makers all have at least 50 years of experience.
One of my GP (general purpose) Hunter. It is stainless CPM S30V with stabilized kuri and mosiac pins on the handle:

One of my Gent's EDC (everyday carry). It is stainless damascus with genuine jet gemstone handle:
