Welcome from Alabama!
I believe the title space cut you off - what should your name have been?
Btw, when my people crossed the Atlantic, we settled in Chester County, SC., which is a bit north of you?

Welcome from Western Australia.
There have been and probably still are a number of spelling variations of Ramsay; these include: Ramesey, Rameseye, Ramishay, Ramissay, Ramsa and Ramysey. According to George F Black in The Surnames of Scotland, the Ramsays are originally from Huntingdonshire where Ramsey is a local name.
