May I say....
Tartan is something so vital for me, so much more than a vain fashion statement or empty pretense. Tartan has always been food for my brain--a hobby to learn about, a thinking aid, a meditation tool and I love designing them, too. It is the music of the ancients, fixed in colored woven threads and still singing to us after six thousand years. Brilliant new setts appear every day. It is a mathematical miracle, and gives us a sense of the infinite in a tightly bound finite weaving of superimposed stripes. For me, it is a warm embrace reaching out, all the time. I've got Tartanitis, and I would not have it any other way!

I would go and have a cold shower if I were you!

Jock...not aimed at you, but I'm starting to resent some of this rude treatment. If you members want me off of here, then act like men, and complain outright.

I didn't think for a second that your comments were aimed at me. Can I try to explain the ethos of this website?
We all have a point of view and for sure we will rarely fully agree on everything!I have certainly ploughed my own furrow on this website, some have found my views, to say at the very least unsettling, but I would like to think that we have all learned something from the discussions even if we are never going to agree. That is life. BUT, for the website to succeed and be the font of tartan and kilt knowledge that it has become, we try very hard to disagree without being disagreeable and there are ways of doing that. We also try to sort things out before saying anything to Steve. Rest assured Steve sees what is going on and would, I think, much prefer for these little skirmishes to sort themselves out as grown do, as we all would.
I don't know you at all and you don't know me, but can I respectfully suggest that you calm down a tad with your undoubted tartan enthusiasm and just not be quite so brutal with your comments. Well OK, perhaps you could think about it? From my point of view the members on this website would appreciate it. Now, can we ALL start again and lets talk quietly and more considerately about tartans and kilts?
