A Montanan Here
Been lurking around X Marks for a year or two. But now I'm looking to actually get an actual kilt, so figured I'd better introduce myself.
Jacob from Northwest Montana: 19 years of age, Christian, autodidact, polymath, volunteer anything, nerd, and outdoorsman.
I've greatly appreciate this website, it's been very useful as I learn about kilts.
Right now, my interest is just in getting a kilt, sporran, and belt. I'll probably end up getting the rest of the formal wear someday, but can't afford it right now. So I'll go with the kilt+shirt+hose+hiking boots look. And maybe a flat cap...
Best regards,
Jacob

Welcome from Eastern Washington State. Glad to have a polymath with us. Now we can find out all sorts of things. What are your areas?

Kiltman, Unfortunately, I'm more jack of all and master of none. (Read "I can't pick one field!") So I don't have a whole heck of a lot of wisdom to impart.
BoldHighlander, Well, MacFie Hunting would be my first choice, but I can't afford a kilt in my size in that unusual of a tartan right now. So, I'm in the market for anything my size... 29" waist kilts seem hard to find.
Maybe I need to learn to sew.

Hi, Jacob, and welcome to XMTS from the bottom end of Africa.
It seems we have a lot in common. My friends sometimes call me the fount of useless information
Great idea about getting a kilt and sporran. Belt too, maybe. But I would suggest lay off the flat cap and wait until you can afford a proper bonnet (balmoral, glengarry or tam o’shanter).
Regards,
Mike
