My privilege to meet so many new kilt wearers.
Good day, good afternoon or good evening. I am new. I am 69, been a writer and mentor most of my life, been around the world a few times. I'm a Scot, born in Glagow in 1943. I wore a kilt as a wee boy. Then we emigrated to New Zealand in 1952, where I grew up, grew out of my kilt, and it was never replaced. I got most of my education here and did well. Later I went back to Scotland twice, once while working for the BBC. Back in New Zealand I continued to suppress my heritage in order to get along. My accent was modified but not Kiwified. I have written five books, the latest being my autobiography, which has changed my life. My heritage reared up like a lion rampant and I have joyfully re-embraced it. Will get a kilt shortly and hope to wear it in the street for no reason except that it is me! So I would like to catch up with any casual wearers in Christchurch. I have not seen many such people in NZ over the decades. Where are they?

Welcome from Virginia, USA. Enjoy reconnecting with your heritage and the wearing of the kilt. I have no Scottish heritage that I know of but fully enjoy kilting 2-3 times a week. We are here for you when the addiction really catches on.

Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts USA in the Northern Hemisphere. I would love to come join you in NZ for a walk-about and a pint. It is a really big world and getting around it is so hard. Welcome here anyway.
