Nevadan in Kilt
It is good to be official here, I have been by to read things before but I am now a member thanks to Steve (Victoria, Freedom kilts, Nice Guy). I took my honeymoon in that glorious city by the bay and was able to order a kilt for myself and my Lady. Personal to Steve, It was great meeting you and hope to make my trip to Victoria an annual event.
Now to the kilt addiction, it all started in 1990, I learned how to play the pipes and got kilted. My first is a Wallace made by a lady in Albuquerque, Kathy Lare. It just stared out small, you know, “Lets get in kilt and go buskin a bit, then it grew to. “Hey lets go see if we can play in the pub tonight, always in kilt. I went to workshops that were put on through TECA with Scotty Thompson and got a certificate, and then another and helped sell tartan and kilts. Then I had to have my Black Stewart, pleated regimental, for solo gigs. I bought a Buchannan just in case I joined the shrine band and ….. well started playing in a ceili band and just going out to pubs in my kilt and buying more. I had to have a Black Watch, every piper should, right? I had to have a Pittsburgh Steeler kilt (McLeod) so I made my first Great Kilt, then a Masonic organization had a MacDonald as its official tartan, so I had to get one of those. You see it is not my fault, I had to get every kilt I have. I know that you all can understand the need to wear a kilt as much as possible. I moved to Reno in 2000 and found out about these other kinds of kilts. I bought a Black Workman’s from UK and then some more, Khakis, Gray, Tie-Dye, more Black, Olive and then Leather (had to work a lot of events to get that one). While I do not have the large collection, I am up to 16 (17 soon) half traditional and half non-traditional. I wear mine all the time except at work, I am an Assistant principal and I really can’t wear one to school. I am looking forward to chatting and reading what goes on here.

I know what you mean I needed to have every kilt I've got, I just had to. I would say a collection of 16 is a good one I have 4 now and I am kilted all the time.

Welcome! I used to live in Sparks, have lots of family in Reno, Fallon and Carson City. I even pulled a security gig at the Silver Club when I was between jobs back in 2000.
My wife and I were married at the "Chapel of the Bells" in Reno - the only place where $12.00 and ANY form of ID will get you married (I used my CW permit). We moved east a few years back, but the wife and I get out there about once a year - we will have to set up a kilt night in the future!

Another warm welcome aboard from Snellville Georgia!

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
