I live in Valley Forge, PA and am particularly interested in the history of the diaspora of the Clan Chattan confederation, and of Scottish settlement in the southern colonies. Why? As Gaelic-speaking highlanders who fought in both Jacobite rebellions, losing great numbers of men both times, who also lived next to the quarters for the Hanoverian troops post-Culloden, and who also tended to be Episcopalian rather than Catholic or Presbyterian, the confederation history may be rather different from the norm for highland or lowland Scots in the mid 1700's.
Almost a thousand photos from the recent 400th anniversay of the resigning of the Clan Chattan Band of Union can be found here:
I feel I shouldn't have pre-empted the rest of the Clan with my alias. What was I thinking! I'd be glad to change it to something less sweeping.
