New to the board.
Just returned from my first highland games this past weekend. My son and I really enjoyed our outing. Ever since we returned I've been searching for a kilt for the two of us but they are really REALLY expensive could anyone tell me why? Anyway I have enjoyed the board so far.

glad you and your son are having a good time with it, for an inexpensive kilt with good quality for the money, I would suggest Stillwater kilts, check out this thread on their new products:

Welcome aboard! There are a number of company's who sponsor this board who offer Kilts. I would check them out. (and I can recommend stillwater as well, they were the first company I bought a kilt from)
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Welcome to the kilt community, or as we refer to it "the addiction."
As for the cost, there's a thread about the economics of kilt making going on right now: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=28025
Fortunately we are living in the Golden Age of economical kilt wearing, between Stillwater, USAK, Frugal Corner, etc. there are plenty of reasonably priced options for you to explore.
Best regards,
Jake

I checked out SWK it is a great website and very affordable. Although, they dont have the Robertson tartan on there. Do they have other tartans, or just what is on the site.?

I think its just what they have on the site, but for the price you can check it out and see if it is truly for you, and your son, then look into USAKilts, Canadian Casual kilts or others for your family tartan.
