New to the folds - Tacoma, WA
greetings all,
Currently unkilted, but will be working on that in the near future. I discovered this site due to Alan's x-kilt and have been lurking and reading for a while now. I'm not a Celt/Scot by family birth rite but have been a long time player of of jigs, reels, hornpipes and other "fiddle tunes" on the mando/tenor banjo. So hopefully you will let this German trade in his lederhosen and join the kilted masses.
As of right now I have an X-kilt in Black canvas planned to get my feet wet and then I'll use Barb's book and the wool pictured below to do something a bit more traditional. I've searched the tartan data bases by color and it doesn't appear to be registered, but it was only ~ $10/yard for coating weight 100% wool.

Thanks for the great info so far.

That wool fabric looks like it could make a nice looking kilt!

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
