New to the Forum!!
Hello! My name is Lance and I live in Mt. Gilead Ohio. I enjoy 18th century reenacting and came across this forum as I was researching my new persona as a 42nd Highlander during the revolutionary war. I also do a long hunter, but my very deep dives into family history, research, and DNA over the years has turned in to a lot of things Scottish, about 32%, and I have found my first direct Scottish ancestor in the US fought with the British and then stayed here after the rev war, as well as Lord John Murray the commanding officer being a relation. I enjoy the outdoors, a Scottish festival hear and there, and I am a culinary arts instructor.
I look forward to the wisdom and experience of the group!

Very interesting! lot's of Lords and such until the 1600's when my ancestor was the third son who became a reverend!! In the US they are the Samples, in Scotland they were Sempill or de Sempill, Lords of Sempill, and since they all married each other for political reasons and to keep the bloodlines pure, I have Lords and ladies that are direct grandparents from Montgomery, Douglas, Seton, Campbell, Edmonstoone, MacDonald, MacDougall, and on and on, all the way back to my Stewart line which is the coolest as my 18X GGGp's are Sir Walter Stewart 6th High Lord of Scotland and Marjorie Bruce...making my 19th great grandfather Robert the Bruce...so really cool indeed!!
Thanks for the welcoming words!!
