The New Guy
My name is Travis and I have the desire to sew my own kilt. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I have always wanted one. I'm here to learn all I can and I'm sure that I will have lots of questions.
Thanks.

Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"
To make a kilt, you'll likely want a copy of "The Art of Kiltmaking" http://people.hamilton.edu/btewksbu/personal/kiltmaking which members here largely consider to be the "bible" on the topic, or you may want to consider attending next summer's "Kilt Kamp"
Meanwhile, don't rush! Spend some time here, browse the threads, ask questions, and only spend money when you have enough information to make wise decisions about getting to where you find you really want to go. It may not be where you think now!
Cheers, and welcome!

From Toronto Ontario. Depending on the kilt you want you may want to pick up The Art of Kiltmaking that Father Bill mentioned, however you may also want to do a search of the forum for the XKilt a DIY guide for making a contemporary kilt written by a member of the forum.

Well met Travis. I can mend and hem but would not try what you attempt. I admire that you are that confident. As recommended, take your time, the reward will be worth it. Welcome to the Rabble.

Thanks.
I asked my bride if she'd make me a kilt; she said I was crazy, too.
Welcome, Travis

Welcome for Far North Queensland. Would love to attempt my own kilt but don't think I would be patient enough.
