    New Kid on the Block

Ok, I'm hardly a kid, but I liked the sound of it. I suppose I should have posted here before starting incendiary threads in the other forum categories. My name is Simon and I live in Burbank, California. My last name is Scottish, though my ancestors came to the Americans over 200 years ago, having fought on the losing side in the Jacobite uprising of 1745. I have been attending Scottish games since I was a kid, and now that I am finally raising a family, I've felt the urge to embrace more of my family heritage and give my kids something to look to. After years of longing I have finally purchased my first kilt and realized quickly how much learning was required in order to wear it properly. In my short time exploring this site it was become an invaluable resource and I look forward to being an active and engaged member. Thanks to everyone who has, and undoubtedly will, continue to educate me on all things Scottish.

Welcome from Croydon, which is the very south of the built up area of Greater London, and historically in the leafy county of Surrey.

Good luck with Sir Walter Scott.
