New from Killam Alberta
Hello all, I am a redneck from southern Alberta that started wearing a kilt off and on just before I married my beautiful wife about 4 years ago. With our recent move to Killam we started looking for things to do in the area and found the Flagstaff Scottish Club, since being involved with them I have had many more occasions on which to wear a kilt. I now have 2 goth type utilility kilts (one black, one in woodland camo) 2 tartan kilts (one in freedom and one in pride of Scotland) one Utilikilt my wife bought me in seattle, and one hybrid utility kilt in Royal Stewart, with another hybrid utility kilt in Pride of Scotland on the way.
All this being said I have to admit I am not Scottish, most of my family hails from the small town of Wigan, Lancashire. my wife however is a Tompson and has a keen desire to remain connected to her Scottish roots. We are even planning to attend the highland games in Seattle next weekend and are currently involved in helping to organize a highland festival here in our little county of Flagstaff.
I have been looking at the boards here for some time and look forward to getting to know all of you. Cheers Styckbow

Welcome to the "Great Rabble"!
Why not wear a tartan for your wife's roots too?

Welcome from Lancashire, UK. As it happens, I live about 15 miles or so from Wigan. My father-in-law grew up there as well. There are a lot of people in Wigan who are of Scottish descent. My father-in-law's family, for example, are McIvers with pipers, drummers, and general kilt wearers in the family.

My wifes Tartan
I have not purchased a kilt in my wifes tartan yet as she will be inheriting her great uncles outfit so I will have the incredible honor of not only wearing her tartan but also be able to wear her Uncles actual kilt. For me this is a incredible honor so I am going to wait and when I do wear it, it will be a very special occasion.
Arnot, My family are Watmough's , apparently there are still a few in the area. My Great grandfather emigrated to Canada in 1902 when my grandfather was 3. I have traced some of my roots to the Watson's and while they have a tartan it is not common. If you happen to have any information about them it would be greatly appreciated
