If we may ask, what type of kilt is it: contemporary or traditional? The maker or place from which you purchased it might also help.
Other than that, the pleats go in the back.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Hi and welcome!! Where about in New Jersey do you live? I grew up in Wyckoff, NJ but now I live east of the Hudson River in NY state.
Did you go to any of the NYC Tartan Week events?

i'm from a small town on the NJ/PA border called Phillipsburg. Were often confused with belonging to PA ALOT.

Hello Ron,
Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.
The easiest and best way is to take some pictures of yourself wearing your kilt. No one will laugh, but if you have made mistakes then they will be easily corrected.
You are amongst friends here and as the old saying goes "Friends don't let friends wear a kilt badly!"
Regards
Chas
